Malaysia – At the conquest of the northern islands

We definitely didn’t like Malaysia that much, but of course everything is a question of references, so we continued our journey to the North, and we stopped on two islands, Penang and Langkawi.

In Penang we stayed at Georgetown, an old city, belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage site. There are many buildings and houses with a very old architecture, and many religious places of different cultures, demonstrating once again the great cultural and harmonious mix in Malaysia. In the same street you will find a Christian church, a mosque, an Indian temple and a Chinese Boudist temple. The city is not that beautiful, we can not say we loved but we stayed for four days without doing anything special, we just relaxed a little and enjoyed. One day we went on a ride by scooter to explore the island, to see some beautiful sea views and 2 times we went to the cinema because it was a week free movie! Hehe…

In Penang we took a boat to the island of Langkawi Island appears to be the coolest of the West Coast. In fact, we really wanted to visit the paradisiac islands in the East Coast, but unfortunately January is the rainy season and the islands are not accessible. So Langkawi was the best option. The beaches are super touristic, but beautiful and not so crowded. We just relaxed under the palm trees facing the sea and again we went exploring the island by scooter and went to the chairlift to go to the top of two mountains, a beautiful place that reminds the Sugar Loaf in Rio de Janeiro, from there we were treated to a breathtaking view.

From Langkawi we crossed the border by boat directly to get for the third time in Thailand. And we are very happy to find the delicious Thai cuisine again. Hmmmm …
