We left India to go to Nepal. From the border to Pokhara our first stop there is 180km, but buses through the mountains in Nepal are worse than in India. We did the 180km in 10 hours, an average of 18km per hour… We had to take a break to sleep in half way at Palpa. Stressed and tired the next day we finally get to Pokhara. A big city but calm, we stayed in a guest house close to the lake to rest and enjoy the place.
In winter you can see the distant Himalayas, but unfortunately we can not see anything in April. So we decided to go on a trekking for 4 days.
With trekking permit in our hands, we set out to conquer the mountains to reach Poon Hill at 3210m above sea level! We walked from 5 to 6 hours per day, we crossed dry and dusty ways, some cool and moisted forest, we crossed bridges, waterfalls, rivers, we enjoyed some magnificents view points of the Himalayas and we were lucky to do that at a time when the trees are in bloom which makes the sight and photos look even better…
On the road we met Michael, a French guy, one Italian Marco and Kity a Malayse with who we did much of the way together. At night we stayed in villages in the middle of the mountain where the dishes were four times more expensive than in the city but also where we paid our room the cheapest of our trip so far: 1 and half Dollar for a night! We were impressed by the local people carrying goods for hotels going up with up to 70kg on their back!
We completed our journey tired, with no more legs but very happy! One of the best experiences of our trip…
Definitely a change from India to Nepal is a big shock. We came out of chaos, dirt, noise, pollution… For the quiet, green, nature and fresh air… relaxation ! A good change for us… hehehe…
