In the modern Singapore

We had to leave Thailand because of Alexis’ visa . Our original plan was to go to Myanmar, but we finally gave up. It is quite complicated because there are no ATMs and the distances between the places we wanted to visit was too long and we didn’t have enough time. Therefore, we decided to leave for Singapore.
Singapore certainly has nothing to do with the rest of Southeast Asia. It’s a big cultural mix, many Malays, Chinese, Indian and Indonesian. The city is super modern, developed, organized, clean and full of rules! Something we haven’t seen much here yet.

It was nice to take a break in a more modern city, the only problem is that everything is extremely expensive (a beer – 10 S$, a visit to 2 hours – 30 S$, climb on top of a building – 20 S$), making it difficult to enjoy 100%. We ate every day in hawker centers, we walked in the neighborhoods of Little India, Chinatown, Colonial District and we tried to do the free stuff. Like watching a rock concert at the Esplanade Park, visit the National Museum after 6pm, visit the Chinese and Indian temples, visit the Raffles Hotel (the first hotel built in Singapore) and visit Botanical Garden, which was great except it was raining.

The only paid thing we decided to do was the “The Original Singapore Walks,” a walk tour through that was interesting to know the history. As Singapore has destroyed almost all traces of its history to modernize, the only way to get an idea of how it was before is joinng an explanatory tour. It really worth it!

We spent only four days, which was enough, and we continue our road to Malaysia by bus.
