From Pai we returned to Chiang Mai, making again 762 curves … But this time, Carol was in the front of the mini van and she didn’t get sick. We got there a few days before receiving a visit from our friend Carrô, who came to spend Christmas with us.
Chiang Mai was a bit disappointing. We heard so many people talking good things about it and when we got there we hadn’t such a good impression. We thought it would be a charming city but in fact there was nothing special. The thing there is to visit the Buddhist temples, walk through the night markets, enjoy the local cuisine, which is sensational, and do activities around the city, which are many.
We spent the night of 24th walking in the Saturday night market and on 25th we had a Christmas dinner at a nice restaurant by the river. But the truth is that Christmas without the family all together and with the typical and delicious foods of Christmas never seems really Christmas. A real Christmas now perhaps only next year… Or in 2013… hehehe
We did a tuk-tuk tour to visit the local handicrafts factories and temples, while Carrô was doing her Mahout course with the elephants Alexis took the opportunity to take a Thai cooking course to learn our favorite dishes and Carol and Carrô spent an amazing morning flying through the cables between the giant trees in the Gibbon experience. And Alexis didn’t go because he was afraid of heights! Ahuaahuah

Ahahahah
