From Laos to Thailand

We are sad to have to leave Laos, but it’s for a good reason… To meet our friend Carro in Thailand that will travel a little with us. So we made the crossing to the Thai border, this time by boat, a cruise on the Mekong, it took us two whole days but it was worth it, the scenery is beautiful and traveling by boat is really nice.

In Thailand, we first stopped for two nights in Chiang Rai, a small town with little interest except for its few temples, traditional night market with these shows for free. A few miles away is the white temple that is also mainly why we wanted to go through Chiang Rai, and we can say we have not regretted it because it is really beautiful and unique.

Then we had 5am bus to get to Pai, a town perched in the mountains, some 762 curves are required to reach Pai (Carol felt bad all the way) The city or rather the village is very nice, full of bars, restaurants, Hotels, cooking classes, with a night market every day of the week and many tourists but mostly Thai tourists.
We went for a day organized tour where we went to see the sunrise over a lake, we visited a village with traditional long neck women, close to Myanmar border. Impressive but we were disappointed to see that finally the village is not very authentic but a real tourist business…

The next day we rented a scooter and we went in the mountains, we traveled more than 80km and we stopped to visit a cave sitting in a boat made of Bamboo.
