Turkey – Natural pools & Roman Ruins

After four days relaxing with nice scenery sadly we had to leave the boat and we left for our next destination. 5 hours later we arrived in Pamukkale, a place of blue water terraces in white stones that we had seen some pictures and it was looking beautiful.

But Pamukkale exceeded all our expectations. The place is simply amazing and unlike anything we had seen so far. It is a mountain with a natural source of water that has a high concentration of calcium hydro-carbonated and which over the years formed a white layer over the rocks becoming travertine. Walking in the travertines and bathe with that wonderful scenery round was definitely an amazing experience.

There you can also visit the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Hierapolis. We visited the Roman Theater, which was the best preserved structure and walked around the other ruins farther away, but the coolest thing to do was definitely to enjoy the travertine and it was where we spent most of the time.

The next day we made our last bus trip in Turkey, this time towards Selçuk to visit an ancient Roman city, one of the most important and well preserved ruins. We had heard it was very touristy and we should get there early, but laziness didn’t allow us. OMG! We have never seen such a thing, it seemed a trawler tourist. Ahahaha … But of course, they receive 2.5 million visitors per year. Crazy!

The most impressive ruin was the library, which was rebuilt with original parts and is the postcard from there. But the Roman Theater also impresses for its size. The largest we’ve seen so far.

Now we take a flight back to Istanbul, Our trip in Turkey was amazing and we loved all the places we visited. Turkey surprised us in every way and came to our list of the best countries to visit.
