At 13 days to the end of that first year traveling we did the last two countries, Spain and France. But we had the feeling that the trip was already finished and we felt like we were already getting into normal life. During these days we started fixing things for our wedding, we visited family and friends, and we enjoyed the delicious French and Spanish cuisine and still did some visit.
We stayed only two days in Madrid doing couchsurfing, hosted by Olia, and it was great. She was super friendly and we had a good time with her. She took us to enjoy the fantastic sunset from the top of a building in the center and we had a delightful evening having tapas with friends.
During the day Carol was running after her wedding accessories and Alexis who did not know the city went to sightseeing by himself. Madrid is truly beautiful and worth to visit.
Then we went to Paris we stayed at Carol’s cousin, Ingrid, with her husband Marcelo and their daughter Larinha. We were greeted with a super shrimp risotto made by Marcelo and some glasses of French wine. Hmmm, delicious!
The next day Carol has been doing proof of her wedding dress and then we went to Rennes in Britain, to spend the weekend with Mathilde, Alexis’s niece, her boyfriend Sven and some friends, Ben, Mika and Gaelle and their son Martin.
During the week-end we went to the street market having fresh cheese and saucisson, we went to the Mont Saint Michel and to the small beautiful city of Saint Malo. It’s amazing how all the cities of France are cute and charming. The details on the facade of each building and the good preservation of every corner of the city is really surprising.
Then we went Lille, Alexis had an audition for a French television program. We were staying at Sophie’s, a nice French girl we met in Egypt, and we were very well received. We had a night in a bar with friends of Sophie and Claire a good friend of Alexis,. Another opportunity to visit at the same time friends and a beautiful city.
We went back to Paris to Carol’s cousin and spent our last days with them. Carol did her second and last try of her bride dress and was all happy, Alexis bought his groom suit, and after a year of traveling not bying anything finally we did some shopping.
September 22st, we took our flight back to Madrid and met Olia again, but this time we were staying at Aaron’s flat, one of her friend,. It was a day of anxiety to go back to Brazil, but we enjoyed our last night of one long year traveling around the world with tapas and rock night club with Olia’s friends. Yeah!
September 23th, it’s time to catch our flight back home. Now only an interminable 10-hour flight to rejoin the family of Carol. A mixture of strange and funny feelings, just as we felt the day the trip began. And it even seems that the end can be as interesting as the beginning of the adventure!
