Jordan – The Wadi Rum desert

After a day relaxing in Petra we did a short visit to Dana, a small stone village that sits in the middle of a valley with an amazing view of the desert. The town is so small that you can cross it walking in 10 minutes and the place was so quiet that we could you only hear the birds, the wind and occasionally a car passing on the road. It was a relaxing visit.

The next day we left for a tour of one day and one night in the desert of Wadi Rum, with two Americans, three Canadians and two Irish. We took a 4×4 tour in the desert stopping at the most interesting points of view and the view was simply amazing with its huge rocky mountains spread all around. For sure this visit is a must, but the heat was so intense that sometimes it was difficult to enjoy the ride.

At 4 pm we stopped at a camp in the desert waiting for the sunset and our dinner and we spent the night outside our tent, which was much cooler and from where we could admire the stars.

From there we went to our last stop in Jordan, Aqaba, at least for the moment. Aqaba is a beach town, much visited by locals on weekends. We wanted to stay there three days to relax, but we were disappointed with the place. It was a beach of town, crowned and noisy and the private beaches of the resorts were expensive and didn’t look so interesting.

So we changed the plan and decided to leave the country earlier. Next stop … Egypt! Woohooo!!!!!!!!!!!!
