It’s been now 15 days that we are in an African tour in a truck, we are 18 travelers + a guide and a driver, both from Zimbabwe. There is Canadiens, Americans, Australiens, South Africans, Kiwis, English and us. We camp every night, we are divided in groups to do the duties, cooking, packing, cleaning. The food is always good. In the truck we play games and listen music during the long day trips.
After leaving Swakopmund in Namibia, we went to Spitzkoppe We pitched our tents in a wonderful place, full of beautiful huge red stones even more beautiful during sunset. There we could see lizard and 200 000 years old peints on the rocks.
The next day we took the road again to do our first safari in the Etosha reserve. Our camping is in the middle of the park close to a water hole where we saw all kind of animals, rhinos, giraffes, elephants, zebras ect…
The next morning we went for 6h safari in our truck, wow, show! We saw a group of lions standing at less than 10m from us, Hyenes, Cheethas, Ostrichs, all kind of birds and many animals that we don’t even know their names…
After 2 nights in the park we took the road and stopped for a night in a camping in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, where 4 of our group of travelers were finishing their trip. At night we went to say goodbye to them in local restaurant, where we tried some meats of wild animals like Zebra, Antelope, crocodile and ect…
From there we crossed the border, now we are in Botswana! We spent our frist night in a traditional hut from the minorities and in the morning some bushman came to show their way to live, culture, and habits.
In the late morning we did 150km to go to another camping in Maun and early the next morning we went in the Okavango Delta. There, some canoes were waiting for us to bring us in the swamp to our bush camp in the middle of the nature.
Then we went for a walking safari, we expected to see buffalos, hippos and crocodiles. Unfortunately we saw only what we have already seen, elephants, zebras, antelopes and eagles. In the canoes in the way back we had a beautiful sunset.
At night in the bush camp we played some funny games with our local guides and they did a performance for us, singing and dancing, we loved it!!! And before going to bed we heard the hippos doing lots of weird noises
The next day (day 15 of the tour) we went back by boat to the camping, the one with showers, swimming pool, electricity… We spent the day doing sport and chilling out a little. Early tomorrow morning we’ll have to leave to next destination…
We did only half of this African tour, still many things to go…
