India – Incredible, surreal, magical!

We finally arrived in the so expected India and we have begun our frenetic journey. We arrived in the south, at the Trivandrun airport and went directly by train to Allepey to do the beautiful boat ride through Kerala backwaters. We did a day trip, spending the night in a traditional bamboo boat with two girls, one American (Alexas) and a Canadian (Cheliza). The canals of Kerala are beautiful with their coconut trees all around, but what add the charm are the exotic boats scattered through the canals.

After only two days here and we have already started to move fast to the center. We left the boat, caught a bus to Kochi, where we toured during the day around the small fort town, colonized by Europeans (Portuguese, Dutch and British), and we took a night bus of 12 hours towards Mysore, where we spent five hours walking in the Devaraja market with its incredible colorful powder inks and visited the palace of Maharaja… And at 1pm we boarded on another bus, with a couple from Austria, for more 10 hours to Hospet, without air con!

We arrived in Hampi at 1am, without dinner, tired, dirty, dead! And when we woke up the next day we were surprised with an incredible place! No words to describe the beauty of Hampi. The place has everything, mountains, green, river, rocks, ruins, temples, people, the rustic town … Unbelievable, incredible, surreal, magical! It was worth all the effort to get here … Every place we go, every view, we feel inside a story of an old book. This is a place you have to see in your life!

Kerala in south India didn’t seem as exotic as we thought, but the higher we go more surprised we get with the magic and exoticism of that country. A delicious vegetarian cuisine, with wide variety, and a life in harmony with the sacred cows, goats, dogs and monkeys, which live on the streets everywhere, every street a farm. We can’t even imagine what awaits us ahead …
