Thailand – Temples Tour

Leaving Chiang Mai, we headed to Bangkok, but stopping on the way in two key cities in the history of Thailand, to visit the temples of 300-500 years ago.

The first stop was in Sukhothai, which is a mini version of Angkor. The historical park is so beautiful and we made a delightful bike ride to see the major temples. Some only in ruins and other well-preserved, surrounded by a lot of green, lakes and birds that make the trip even more enjoyable and relaxing.

Then we went to Ayutthaya, a city already much larger than the old Sukhothai but with its temples lost in the city that was growing in a disorderly manner. Ayutthaya also let us down a bit as a city, because it didn’t had the charm we expected. But walk through the ancient temples can be quite pleasant, once you leave the noisy center. Here you can see the famous face of a Buddha attached to the roots of an ancient tree and the largest Buddha in Thailand.

Well, after this trip to northern Thailand, we think we had enough of Buddhist temples. We saw Buddha standing, sitting, lying down, walking … Made of stone, bronze, gold … In all different forms! Ahahaha
