After visiting the temples we did a long trip to see the volcanos of Java. Long trip not for the distance, but for the hours. Until the first stop on Cemorolawanga we did 11 hours of travel in a minibus for just 375 km. Ridiculously super slow! This is because in Indonesia there are no highways and you have to go through the chaos of all small towns. The next day we left at 4am to see the sunrise from the view point (Pananjakan) in Bromo volcano, we climbed 20 minutes to get there, which was tiring but it paid off, the view with the sunrise was breathtaking. Then we went to the base of the volcano and climbed to the top, another exercise of 40 minutes and we still had a ash storm from the volcano on our face. Neither the glasses nor the scarf were enough to retain it! After that we had another 6 hours by bus to the nearby volcano, Ijen Creater, a crater with a super blue water inside due to the sulfor emissions. There we had to climb 3 km and we still had a heavy rain, another good exercise. We met on the trip a super nice couple, Mark (English) and Kirsten (Canada), with whom we walked in the volcano and from there went all together in one more long trip of 9-hour to Bali: minibus + boat + crowded bus + shared taxi super tight = 2 exhausted travelers (ups… 3 with Kiki)! Woohoo… Adventures in the style of Asia. We finally arrived in the mess of Kuta (Bali) at 8pm, hungry for not having lunch and no hotel reservation! Aha!
